A stone hearth and tile make this fireplace truly the center of the home
This corner of the living room marked the center of the home. Located just off from the kitchen and to the side of the stairwell, this side of the living room formerly didn't offer much to the space.
And although this was added much after the home was completed, it looks as though it was designed to be apart of it from day one.
By creating an angle on the fireplace, it now properly faces the other side of the room, which before gave you a side profile of anything placed on this wall. A hearth custom matched to the kitchen countertops, invites you into the space and even gives someone additional to sit in the room.
Even though it isn't functional, a fireplace can still provide warmth in terms of it's visual appeal to a space. By adding lighting and decor, your firebox can be tailored to match the room or even season.
Decor and or entertainment can be placed above the mantle which as seen below opens to allow the hiding of components as well as additional storage. A neat feature that most would not even notice!
